A Pragmatic Analysis of Fuzzy Language in Government Work Report from 2013 to 2015 

Abstract Fuzzy language, first proposed by the British philosopher Russell, has become a subject of linguistics for decades overseas。 Fuzzy language in news, business, law, diplomacy and etc。 has been studied from various perspectives, including semantics, pragmatics, rhetoric and so on。 Study of fuzzy language in China started relatively lately and research on fuzzy language in government work report has been far from enough。 84543

As a typical official document, government report is featured by fuzziness。 Therefore, this paper selects fuzzy language in government work report from 2013 to 2015 as a corpus to do a pragmatic analysis。 Cooperative Principle and Politeness Principle are employed to explore the function and purpose of fuzzy language in the government work report。 It is found that fuzzy language in government work report serves special pragmatic functions, conveying presupposition of speakers and delivering messages indirectly。   

Understanding fuzzy language can help us to discover the implied information and better understand the government work report。 This study also enables readers to gain a more comprehensive understanding of political affairs, and is helpful to multidimensional development of the English teaching。

政府工作报告中模糊语的语用分析

—以2013-2015年政府工作报告为例

摘要 模糊语最早由英国哲学家罗素提出，经数十年的发展，模糊语言学已经成为一门系统的语言类学科。模糊语的研究涉及语义、语用及修辞等众多领域；研究选取的文体类型主要包括新闻、商贸、法律、外交等。我国学者对模糊语的研究起步相对较晚，对政府工作报告这一类公文文体中模糊语的语用研究相对较少。因此，本文选取中央政府工作报告作为研究语料，对其中的模糊语进行语用分析。

政府工作报告作为一种公文文体，具有典型的模糊语言的特征。本文选取近三年中央政府工作报告为语料，结合合作原则与礼貌原则等语用学理论，探究政府工作报告中模糊语的功能和目的。本研究表明，政府工作报告中模糊语的存在有着特定的语用功能。很多模糊语暗含着说话人的语用预设，间接传递着话语信息。毋庸置疑，掌握模糊语能帮助读者理解这些暗含的信息，更好地理解政府工作报告。此外，本研究也有助于读者更加深入地理解各种政治话语，并有利于英语教学的多维化发展。
