The Standard of English Course points out that to develop efficient reading skills is one of the important ways to foster the communicative ability of the middle school students. Many experiments prove: the training of the strategies can improve students' reading comprehension (Block, 1986). But there is a need an empirical research about this kind of strategies training effect for our students. This study was to get knowledge of the relationship between the usage of English Reading Strategies for middle school students and their reading comprehension performance, as well as whether the students' strategy training can improve the reading comprehension achievement of the English reading.
Nowadays, reading comprehension plays an important role in English learning for all students. English reading occupies much more score in all kinds of English tests. Reading comprehension is one of the most important abilities in English language learning. The main purpose of English reading is to develop the students to have a stronger reading ability. English learning is difficult for many Chinese learners. One of the main causes is that English and Chinese belong to different language systems. Another important cause is the fault of current methods that many teachers have been applying. In the process of text teaching, problems are mainly present in the following two aspects: One is that some teachers and students neglect the importance of reading. Another aspect is that text materials are utilized insufficiently, that is to say, enough reading strategies and skills are not applied in text teaching.
Ⅱ. Test Reading and the Importance and Problems of Test Reading

2.1. Test Reading
As a very important form of reading, text reading is of great value for teachers to cultivate linguistic abilities and skills of the students. Dr Grace tells us seven appropriate reasons why reading is important. Thereby, to make students more effectively in reading, many experts and scholars all emphasize the great functions of reading strategies and skills. Thomas Devine emphasizes that the teacher may cultivate and improve students’ skills in comprehension from linguistic competence, word knowledge, world knowledge, knowledge of text structure, making relationships, summarizing, and thinking, etc. And Grace states that “Reading skills are important for improving comprehension because they enable the students to use top-down (conceptual) and bottom-up(textual) modes interactively. Students at all levels of English benefit from lessons and reading. Comprehension skills help them understand and interpret what they read.” When teachers make use of their methods to teach texts in class, firstly, they have to pay attention to some factors that can affect students’ comprehension, such as purpose, motivation, experience, text material, etc. Christine Nuttall argues that “a textbook in any language studied more effectively is students are given a specific purpose , not merely told to read and make notes”. They can be taught in ways that lead them in the right direction and help them make as much progress as possible. Thomas Devine also talks more about classroom reading. He suggests that a teacher wants his students to improve classroom reading, and he should at least pay attention to some aspects, such as pre-reading activities for students; give students an overview; explain new and difficult concepts in advance, and so on. And William Grabe and Fredricka Stoll view:“reading as an evaluating process in which the reader must decide if the information being read is coherent and matches the purpose for reading.” Rod Ellis shows us how to make efficient or inefficient. He defines efficiency in reading as“adapting the manner of reading to the nature of the material and to the purpose for reading”.
2.2. The Importance of Text Reading
Approximately 80 percent of the world’s population is reported to be able to read. While numbers on such a large scale can be misleading, it is safe to say that the majority of humans are able to read in their first languages at some basic level. Some statistics show that even five or ten years makes a cycle of such renewal. Hence, if we want to follow the development, we should learn to read so that we can arm our minds with the recent achievements in scientific research. The text reading as one of important reading forms, in SSOT, can help students consolidate and expand the vocabularies, enrich language knowledge, improve the ability of languages, and train their reading skills and form their reading habits. Reading can help train their thought, acquire the ability of comprehension, generalization and judgment. Through the reading, students can know about the world, promote their aesthetic capability, and improve their future life. The information age is likely to make greater, rather than lesser, demands on peoples’ reading abilities.
