Children’s literature is the literature work that is written mainly by adults in simple words and organized in clear structure with an exact theme。 It aims to convey purity, beauty and good qualities to children, making them be curious about the world and cultivating a positive attitude towards society and their living world。 A good work of Children’s literature can help guide children learn and live in society and attract readers of different ages。 And both children’s literature work at home and abroad has developed for hundreds of years。 There are many famous works that can be enjoyed by children, such as One Thousand and One Nights, Aesop’s Fable, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (Mark Twain), Be a Good Child (Huang Beijia) and so on。 These literature works are translated into different languages and spread in the whole world。 With the communication of culture, Children’s literature works, especially foreign Children’s literature works, are popular in the world (Wang Lijuan, 2013)。 And many researchers both at home and abroad have done many researches on children’s literature。 Most studies are conducted from such perspectives, such as rhetorics, psychology, and so on。 And many studies are carried out in perspective of literary criticism。 However, few studies combine linguistics with children’s literature work, not to say pragmatics。
The novel--The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is one of the most famous children’s literature works, and many researchers both at home and abroad have done many studies on this novel。 Most studies are from the respects of translation, psychology of children and so on。 The author does this research with the aim of dissecting the work and the figures from the respect of pragmatics--cooperative principle and politeness principle。
