I. Introduction
The story is about a little girl named Alice fell asleep with her sister nearby the river when they were reading a book. She had a dream, and in this dream she chased a talking white rabbit who wear vast and pocket watch. Then she fell down a rabbit hole, which is a magical underground world. In this world, she sometimes became larger and sometimes became smaller. At one point Alice catches a glimpse of a beautiful garden and wants to enter it but finds she is too big. Then follows a sequence of events where she first drinks a potion and becomes small then eats cake and becomes big which recurs throughout the story in various ways. When she is too big she bursts into teas of frustration and then when she shrinks again finds herself swimming in a pool of her own teas alongside various other creatures. All food in this world looks like strange. For example, she would become the same size as a mouse.
She also met a lot of people and animals: the dodo, lizards, bill, mysterious Cheshire cat, the mythical Griffin and Mock Turtle, March hare, the Dormouse, turtle, Eagle head lion, ugly Duchess of teachy, the Queen poker who always shouting to cut down others head and a group of poker soldiers. She took part in a mad tea party, an eccentric hammer and a trial game. After the mock turtle and gryphon do a dance and finally there is a trial to discover who stole the tarts. Most of the main characters reappear as witnesses and finally Alice is called. By this time she is growing again and is not worried about what she says because they are ‘only a pack of cards’. The whole pack of cards comes flying down upon her and Alice wakes from her dream. Then, she found herself still lay on the land nearby the river, the elder sister gently brushed her face with some leaves which were pokers in her dream.
The prominent feature of story is rich imagination, which is full of all kinds of strange new plots. But readers do not feel ridiculous, on the contrary, they think this story is fascinating and make readers interest in it. The author wrote this novel with a childlike innocence. He invested rich and serious feeling in it, especially the protagonist in it. Alice was described lively and lovely, even can be sense of touch. This is the reason why this work had published more than 100 years still so attractive. 浅析《爱丽丝漫游奇境记》中的象征主义:http://www.youerw.com/yingyu/lunwen_23427.html
