Abstract Rebecca is a romantic suspense novel by the famous female writer Daphne du Maurier which tells a love story between “I” and Mr. Winter. And the love in the book grows toughly under the impact of the apparition Rebecca. Gaston Louis Alfred Leroux’s The Phantom of The Opera is a lover thriller which tells a story happened in the opera. This paper will concentrate on two ghosts in the novel Rebecca and The Phantom of the Opera and analyze their similarities and differences. These two characters, Rebecca and Eric, have always been the objects of study, and always been the center of the controversy. The previous research of these phantoms is mainly focused on the characteristics within the works, lacking the study on their influence outside the works, let alone the comparative study of similar phantoms in the two novels. So this paper will compensate it by comparatively studying these two different apparitions and by revealing the far-reaching influence beside the works, thus to change the fixed view on these kind of characters. This thesis will analyze the two figures from the perspectives of characters’ image, life experience and love and so on. It aims at exposing the good aspects in their heart and finding the commons of them, changing the negative view on such roles and forming new understanding and definition of such characters, and finally providing a new way of appreciating such characters.43817

摘要《蝴蝶梦》是著名女作家达芙妮·杜穆里埃德所写的一部爱情悬疑小说，讲述了主人公“我”和温特先生的爱情故事。这个爱情故事在鬼魅式的人物吕贝卡的影响下艰难成长。加斯东·勒鲁的爱情惊悚小说《歌剧魅影》讲述了一个发生在巴黎歌剧院里的爱情故事。本文以的《蝴蝶梦》以及《歌剧魅影》中两位“鬼魅”式的人物形象为研究对象，对比研究两位人物在小说中的异同点。两部文学作品中吕贝卡和埃里克两位人物的形象一直以来就是人们研究对象，一直以来这两位的形象也备受争议。前人多集中分析作品中反映的人物特点，缺乏研究其在文学作品之外的深远影响，对于文学作品中相似的鬼魅形象人物的对比研究则更为不足优尔^文`论*文-网www.youerw.com。因此，本文将通过对比式的研究来解释这两个不同人物在作品以外深远的影响，以此来改变人们对于此类人物的固定的看法。本文将从人物的形象、生活经历、爱情观等方面分析两位人物的形象，旨在揭露此类看似反叛的人物形象内心美好的一面和发现此类角色的共性。从而改变读者对于这类角色的负面看法，促进读者形成关于此类人物形象的新认识和新定义，给读者提供一种鉴赏此类人物形象的新角度。
