论文主体共分为六个章节。第一章是介绍章，介绍了论文的背景。第二章主要对目的论做一个简要的介绍，包括它的背景，发展阶段以及它的三个规则，并且会对在叠词翻译研究上所取得的成果的进行一个回顾。第三章介绍了英汉叠词的特点并对它们做一个分类。第四章主要探讨目的论对《彷徨》中叠词的英译的启发，即目的规则是译者所要遵循的第一法则， 而连贯规则和忠实规则则是为了达到语内和语间的连贯所应遵循的基本要求。第五章是在目的论的指导下，研究杨宪益和戴乃迭所运用的翻译策略和技巧。最后一章是总结章，会对所研究的课题进行一个总结。

1. Introduction
As a significant form of words, reduplicated words can be found in various types of writing, especially in colloquial and literary works. When reduplicated words appear in a certain literary work, they not only achieve the function of expressing meanings, but also the function of suggesting the author’s emotional inclination. Therefore, the author’s unique literary style in language can be fully represented through the use of reduplicated words.
Due to difference between Chinese and English and cultural gap, when translating Chinese reduplicated words into English, it is almost entirely impossible to maintain all the aspects of the reduplicated words, including their meanings and characteristics. Many meaningful achievements on reduplicated words have been made by many linguists in the field of linguistics. However, fewer periodicals and theses focused on the translation strategies and techniques during the process of translating Chinese reduplicated words. Besides, these researches are often not scattered, not connecting some theories, which calls for the need of such kind of study.
Based on the above remarks, this thesis aims to study the C-E translation of reduplicated words in Wandering under the guidance of the Skopos theory. Skopos theory, the essence of German functionalist theory, contains three rules: skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule.
