1.2 Brief Introduction of the Spatial Narrative
The Spatial Narrative, semantically is the clue and order of stories.(张世君,1999) In other words, the author creates several spatial scenes with words. What is more, these scenes are not combined at random, but arranged orderly to highlight the theme of stories.
As Wu Xiaogang said, there are two types of spatial narrative. One is the subject space which is arranged to represent the characteristics of roles and it needs to transfer the spaces as the story processes.(吴效刚, 2000) The other is psychological space which is connected to the psychological consciousness activities of characters. It does not have the chronological order but put these intentions, suggestions, symbolization and associations outside of the narrative process to construct as a whole. Readers a re needed to read stories repeatedly and try to remember those points to reconstruct the narrative spaces.
