1. Introduction
1.1 The Current Situation of English Learning for Primary School
With the rapid development of globalization and the Internet, the relationship between people around the world is becoming more and more intimate. Meanwhile, English, as a widely used language, becomes a critical tool for international communication, which is applied in scientific research field, commercial area, tourism, banking, even for daily life. China, as the largest developing country, after entering WTO, participates in the international issues more and more constantly. Therefore, a large amount of people who are good at English are greatly needed. People who want to do business with foreigners, or to study abroad, also require a good command of English. As a result, English, as one of the major subjects and one compulsory course, gains a lot of significance.
Primary school, the initial stage when children about 10 years old start learning English, is especially important. Just like a famous saying, well begun is half done. According to New Curriculum Standard 2011, interest is the critical factor that should be considered while teachers design a class. It is important for children to obtain the interest in learning English and to keep it.
Considering the psychological development of children about 10 years old, who in that age live in a musical and rhythmical world, surrounded by sounds, movements and games, they are more likely to sing and dance and act while learning English. In addition, it is easy to catch children’s attention but not easy to keep their attention throughout the whole class, which requires teachers to acquire the ability and passion to design variable interactive activities to draw children’s attention. Due to this situation, nowadays teachers, in order to arise children’s interest in English learning, referring to the theory of interactive approach, put forward many interactive teaching activities in English teaching. 交互性教学方法下对小学英语教学中游戏的研究(2):http://www.youerw.com/yingyu/lunwen_50571.html
