《白鲸》与《烧马棚》主要人物形象对比分析

摘要美国作家赫尔曼·麦尔维尔的小说《白鲸》，描述了船长亚哈意外被白鲸咬伤，而后下定决心杀死白鲸，进行一场人与自然的较量。《烧马棚》是威廉·福克纳的短篇小说之一。它描绘了一个小男孩在目睹父亲用残忍的手段实施报复行为时内心的煎熬和挣扎，以及最后他在道义与亲情的较量中选择了坚守正义。本文从外貌特征和性格特征以及他们的不同选择导致的最终结局的异同等方面，对亚哈和阿伯纳，以实玛利和沙多里斯的人物形象进行对比分析，说明人与自然应当和谐相处，以及人与人之间平等互助的必要性。通过善与恶的对比，揭示正义必将战胜邪恶，从而证明人性本善，引导处于迷惘当中的人们不断自我反省，不断地发现自己的善性，让这种善性指引我们前行。50219

Abstract The famous American writer Herman Melville's novel Moby-Dick, describes the story that captain Ahab was bitten by Moby Dick accidentally, and he determined to kill the whale. This novel performs a struggle between man and nature. Barn Burning is one of William Faulkner’s classic short novels, which describes a-ten-year old little boy’s torture and struggle in his heart after witnessing series of crucial revenges of his father and finally the little boy chose the justice from the battle between morality and kinship. This paper, through the comparative analysis of Ahab and Abner, Ishmael and Sarty in their appearances, personalities, their choices and different endings, shows the necessity of human beings live in harmony with nature and people live in equality and help each other. From the comparison between good and evil, this paper reveals that justice will ultimately overcome evil, proves kindness is a trait, which guides people who get lost to exam himself, so that they can find their inner goodness and follow the guidance of goodness.
