Abstract With various characteristics and different categorizations, Contemporary Chinese vogue expressions reflect the most popular phenomenon in current society of China, and express special meanings through vivid forms. The C-E translation of network catchwords is based on the purpose of culture exchange and culture transmission. Network catchwords is part of Chinese language culture that can act as a bridge for communication with other cultures. The target readers can get a deeper cognition about China by reading the  English translation. The focus of this thesis is given to suggest feasible methods for translating Chinese network buzzwords into English , including  literal translation, free translation, transliteration ， back translation, affixation and interpretation. The deficiency of this thesis lies in that the translation of the buzzwords are not authoritative enough and the suggested translations meets difficulty in standardization. To sum up,  this  paper  contributes  limited  efforts and tentative innovation to the field of Chinese vogue expressions and their translation in the hope of forging ahead the field in the slightest way.70923

摘要当代汉语流行语有着许多不同的分类和特点，反映了当代中国社会中最流行的现 象，也以鲜活的形式表达着特殊的意义。汉语网络流行语的英译是以文化交流和传播为 目的，网络流行语从属于中国语言文化，它可以作为与其他文化沟通的桥梁，使目标读 者通过阅读网络流行语的英译来更深入的了解中国。本文重在提出中国流行词的可行性 的翻译方法，包括直译，意译，音译，回译，词缀法以及释义法。不足之处在于文中有 些例子的翻译，未能有权威标准，另外，本文给出的翻译，也不能找到有效的途径将其 标准化。总而言之，本文在探讨汉语流行词及其翻译领域，作出有限贡献和初步创新， 有望推动这一领域的发展。
