Abstract Politeness is a social and linguistic phenomenon。 It conditions people to behave in certain ways, which is helpful to maintain harmonious relationships。 Based on the summary of former research production about polite expression, this paper explores the differences in politeness principle between the Chinese and Westerners from the angle of practical application and its influence of the different ways in thinking。 After that, it analyzes the causes of difference in the ways of thinking。 Based on above analysis, the implications for the foreign language teaching and learning in the cross-culture communication, especially in the culture of polite expression, can be gained。 75858

摘要礼貌是我们文化中所共有的一种社会和语言现象。它制约着人们的行为，有助于维持和谐的人际关系。本文在基于前人对礼貌表达的研究成果上,从实际生活应用的角度分析中西方在礼貌表达方面的差异，并探究思维方式差异对它的影响，接着分析形成思维差异的原因。基于本文的研究，最终得出在跨文化交际中，教育者与受教育者针对这些差异应当如何进行对外国文化，特别是对礼貌文化的教与学的应用的启示。

1。 Introduction

With the trend of globalization, the world has become more closely linked today and the exchange between different countries is becoming increasingly frequent today。 As a social and linguistic phenomenon, politeness is a norm which everyone should abide by。 People around the world attach importance to it。 However, in the pratical cross-communication, Western and Chinese express their politeness in different ways, for their different modes of thinking。 And that might cause them problems。 The major reason for the differences results from different cultural values, for Chinese politeness pays more attention to “other-orientation” while the Western politeness takes “self-orientation” seriously。 The national way of thinking, as a deep level and recessive culture, reflects a nation's specific cognition and effects on language forms all the times。 论文网 中西方思维差异对礼貌表达的影响及启示:http://www.youerw.com/yingyu/lunwen_86904.html
