三. 研究目的及意义:

The present study is aimed to explore the effect of different dimensional gloss on vocabulary acquisition and reading comprehension. Through the exploration, we hope to get a better understanding of the effects that those different gloss information including L1 definition, phonetic  symbol,  have brought on vocabulary acquisition and reading comprehension. 

Practically, the study attempts to find the most proper gloss condition to facilitate vocabulary acquisition and reading comprehension. Correspondingly, the suggestions about the glossing condition would be quite valuable to textbook writers or publishers of other reading materials. 

Readers who carry a purpose to enlarge their vocabulary through reading would benefit from the reading material provided with sufficient glossing information. At the same time, those EFL learners as well as teachers may also harvest some suggestions in finding a more effective learning or teaching method.
