1 Introduction
1。1 Research Background
According to the Ministry of Education, the “College English Curriculum Requirement (on Trial)” provides that “the goal of college English teaching is …… (Students) the ability of oral and written exchanges of information in English effectively ……” and required students “…… can use basic communication strategies in conversions” Thus, the competence of students’ communication strategy is a vital goal for our current foreign language teaching。 论文网
According to Liu (2005), the domestic and foreign scholars started the communication strategies study since the 1970s, and made remarkable achievements, producing influential theories, such as Canale & Swain (1980) influential model of communicative competence, Faerch & Kasper (1984) on communication strategies definition, classification, and other factors。 Most of the domestic studies focus on the empirical research, and the following part will make a detailed introduction for the theoretical and empirical studies from the domestic and foreign researches。
The paper adopts the methodology of questionnaire and interviews。 And this paper will focus on the employment of communication strategies in freshman and sophomore English majors from Nanjing University of Science & Technology when they conduct language practice。 The participants belong to different language proficiency degrees。
1。2 Significance of the Study
This paper endeavors to analyze the relationships among language proficiency degrees and communication strategies, personality style and communication strategies, cognitive style and communication strategies。 According to the result, the paper will encourage the English majors to promote their oral communicative competence and strengthen their language proficiency degrees。
In addition, this paper discusses the influential factors of the utilization with different strategies, thus the language learners can in accordance with the factors find their weakness in communication。 Li & Hu (2014) once said that teachers also should help student to establish correct conception of learning, pay attention to the emotional changes of English learners, encourage student actively to take practice, and timely adjust the teaching contents。
