A Study of English Learning Strategies of College Students
Abstract This thesis deals with a study on the usage of English learning strategy of four undergraduate students from Hangzhou Normal University, including the situations of usage, the reasons and its relationship with students’ learning proficiencies。 These are presented by means of interview and reading。 Through analysis, conclusions can be drawn。
Firstly, the study shows the situation of the overall strategy usage。 All of them use cognitive strategies and three of them use memory strategies, but compensational strategies and metacognitive strategies are not ideal。 Secondly, there are many factors contributing to students’ not using strategies, including student’s attitude to learning English, teachers’ attitude, the atmosphere of the whole class and students’ emotions and confidence。 Finally, Students with different learning proficiencies employ different strategies。 Students with higher English proficiency tend to use more strategies and use them more interactively and comprehensively。88306
