1。 Introduction
This chapter gives a brief introduction about research background of self-regulated learning, and practical significance of the investigation。
1。1 Research Background
In today’s China, senior high school is a very important period of time for the humans to accumulate knowledge and skills to get themselves prepared for learning life in College or new career in society。 And English, as the major foreign language in most of the senior high school in China, not only requires students’ excellent language ability(listening, speaking, reading, writing) to use it, but also need students’ practical skills to answer the questions。 Therefore, both parents and teenagers attach great importance to how to learn English well and live a better life in senior high school。 In order to obtain better performance in English, there are some suggestions which can be applied to students, like storytelling in the primary school。 And self-regulated learning (hereinafter SRL), which is comprised of “self-generated thoughts, feelings and actions that are planned and cyclically adapted to the attainment of personal goals” (Zimmerman, 2000, p。 14), supports students in optimizing their learning processes。 SRL therefore has a positive impact on learning results (e。g。, Kitsantas, 2002) and well-being (Park, Edmondson, & Lee, 2012)。 Thus, perhaps self-regulated learning is one of the effective ways to improve senior high school students’ learning outcome in English。
