First of all, with the development of technology, various temptation breaks into the high school students’ life, such as online games, TV series, social chat applications an so on。 Nowadays, the students are exposed to those electronic devices too earlier, which leads to the consequence that the students’ life is crowded with endless distraction and it’s become a lot harder for the students to be a self-regulated learner。
Second, self-regulated learner needs to make sure the main steps of his own regulation in learning。 Self-regulated learner requires one’s ability to plan and practice。 And what’s most importance part of self-regulated learner is patience and perseverance in that it’s easy to stick to your own regulation and force yourself to do something one day or several but absolutely difficult to stick to it until it is accepted as a habit。
Third, self-regulated learning is to control your behavior and become the master of learning。 It’s said that one of the biggest fear of human is being afraid of losing control and one of the biggest drive is to acquire the control of our life。(Shapiro &Astin, 1998) the increasing of knowledge greatly improve the ability to predict what is to be happen and get prepared for it so as to obtain the control of life。 Compared with controlling other objectives, sometimes it is even harder to control oneself。 Learning, as a quite important part of life, should be regulated under our control but it’s hard obviously。
1。2 Practical Significance
The research about the influence of self-regulated learning on the learning outcome in English among the senior high school students has never be delivered before。 The research is quite valuable and worthwhile enough to deliver because having more knowledge about the relationship between self-regulated learning and learning outcome in English definitely has positive effects on improving students learning outcomes so as to get higher marks in examination。
1。3 Layout of the thesis
This thesis contains five chapters:
Chapter One is the introduction, the author provides the general background and practical significance of the study, and the outline of the thesis。
Chapter Two is the literature review。 An overall review of the literature concerning the relevant studies on self-regulated learning are analyzed。 Some related studies at home and abroad are also be sorted out to describe the present situation of the research。文献综述
Chapter Three is the design of the research。 In this chapter, we provide the research methodology, including research questions, participants, instruments and research procedures, which are the employed measures in the experiment。
Chapter Four presents data collection and data analysis that result in the conclusions。 It presents an analysis of the scales' results and the results of students' English learning outcome before and after the training。 The data obtained by the two scales and English tests are processed by SPSS 16。0。 to test the significant correlation of self-regulated learning and learning outcome in English between pretests and post-tests in the experimental class。
Chapter Five is the conclusion of the present thesis。 Major findings are concluded。 It points out the limitations and suggestions for the further research。 Expectations of the thesis are also proposed in this chapter。
2。 Literature Review
This chapter gives a general description to the definition of self-regulated learning, the impact on the learning outcome。 In the former research, it has been discovered that one of the reasons of students’ success in learning is self regulated learning。(e。g。 Feldmann, Martinez-Pons, & Shaham, 1995; Mischel, Shoda, & Rodriguez, 1989; Moffitt et al。, 2011; Shoda, Mischel, & Peake, 1990)。
