Bilingual education is used in much of the Middle East, for example, as is trilingual education。 It is common for subjects such as language and history to be taught in local, native languages such as Arabic。 Science and math, however, are often taught in English, and in some regions French or Kurdish is also used in classrooms。 This type of bilingual education allows students to learn in their home language, the language the students and their parents speak at home, and a secondary language in which they become fluent。 It is also typical for concepts learned regarding a native language to be easily transferred by a student to a better understanding of the secondary language。

2。1 Definition of Bilingual Instruction 论文网
According to Longman Dictionary of Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics (Elaine Tarone, 2002:13), bilingual education refers to “the use of a second or foreign language in school for the teaching of content subjects。” In our country, English is the main foreign language which is widely used in most middle schools。
In general, according to the educational concepts such as Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and dual-language education, bilingual education is an education program for students, whose native language is not English, to study typical school subjects – for example, math or geography 。 Students are taught for some portion of school time in English。 They will keep up academically while they spend much more time in learning English because they can learn subjects in their native language。 The ultimate goal is to make the students have the ability to have any class in English with no difficulties。 They can communicate both in Chinese and English fairly well and English is no longer a foreign language for them but a second language in school。
There are many forms of bilingual education, and the implementation of these programs in the educational system varies significantly。 Often bilingual programs are set up to facilitate the opportunity for children to progress in their subjects such as mathematics, science, and social studies in their native tongue while they learn their second language in a separate class。
