Abstract Traditionally, translation lays its emphasis on language. Translators concentrate on the linguistic translation at the perspective of the word, phrase and sentence, instead of taking the significance of culture factor in the process of translation into consideration. As the communication between cultures increases, more and more scholars and translators focus on the role cultural factors plays in translation. Cultural translation theories home and abroad helps translation studies get rid of the limitation of pure linguistic translation and brings translation studies into a brand new level.29086

With the application of Susan Bassnett’s Cultural translation theory, this thesis analyzes “The Kite Runner” by an Afghan American writer, Khaled Hosseini and the two Chinese versions of Li Jihong and Li Jingyi. And it carries out a contrastive analysis of word translation respectively from the aspects of food culture and clothing culture, daily expression culture, Muslim culture and Afghan custom culture, which leads to the conclusion that to some degree, Li Jihong’s inclination to domestication and Li Jingyi’s inclination to foreignization both achieve the purpose of cultural transplantation .
And this thesis contributes to providing a new dimension for the relative researches on “The Kite Runner”, and aims to improve translation ability, to promote the cultural communication between English and Chinese and to introduce Afghan culture to more people.

摘 要随着各种文化之间的交流不断增加，文化因素对翻译活动的影响也引起了更多译者的关注和思考。
基于此，本文采用苏珊巴斯奈特的文化翻译观的理论来对美籍阿富汗作家卡勒德•胡塞尼的“The kite Runner”及其两个中文译本进行研究，本文分别从饮食和服饰文化、日常用语文化、穆斯林宗教文化和阿富汗民俗文化四个方面，对比分析了李继宏和李静宜的译本中文化信息的处理策略，得出结论：两者倾向于不同翻译策略，李继宏偏向于归化而李静宜偏向于异化，但两个译本中文化信息的翻译有得有失，在不同程度上实现了文化相互移植的目的。
本文的探究为“The Kite Runner”译本的相关研究提供了新的视角，促进了中英文化交流，并希望以此指导和提升自身的翻译实践和能力，向更多的人介绍阿富汗文化。
