And obviously, British and American festival culture is under the background of Christianity.
In recent years, domestic and foreign scholars mainly concentrated on introducing the Western festival ceremonies and contents. Such as, Du Li (2012) (Chinese and Western Festival Customs and food), Wu Youfu, Zhang Meifang (1998) (Western Festivals and Cultural Background), Gao Zhanxiang 92007) (On Festival Culture), Guo Zeming, Xu Gaoyu (2006) (Colorful Foreign Festivals), Tim Healey (2007) (A history of Holidays), etc.
Now we will emphatically introduce three important festivals in Britain and America to explore their culture connotations, and they are Christmas Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Mother’s Day.
As follows, we will also discuss the influence of British and American festivals in respect of Chinese culture by introducing the festivals in China, analyzing the causes, and studying different attitude towards them, thus, we will have a general idea toward the current condition of western festivals influence on Chinese culture.

Christmas Day is a public holiday in many of the world’s nations, is celebrated culturally by a large number of non-Christian people and is an integral part of the Christmas and holiday season.
Widely celebrated modern customs of the festival include gift giving, completing an Advent calendar or Advent wreath, Christmas music and caroling, an exchange of Christmas cards, going to church, a delicious meal, and the display of different kind of Christmas decorations, including Christmas trees, colorful Christmas lights, nativity scenes, Christmas gift, wreaths, mistletoe, and holly.
