    摘要在英语教学中,英语定语从句不仅是学生需要重点掌握的语法之一,也是学生学习英语的难点。本文通过对英汉两种语言的句法特征以及这两种语言中限制性定语从句与非限制性定语从句的特点进行对比分析,借助大量翔实的例子详细阐述了限制性英语定语从句和非限制性的四种主要翻译方法:前置法、后置法,融合法和转换为状语从句法,并列举出了在翻译过程中经常出现的一些错误。本文旨在让人们更好地理解英语定语从句,为今后的英语定语从句的翻译提供参考。40810

    Abstract English attributive clause is not only one of the key grammars that students need to master in English teaching, but also a difficult point for them. Through contrasting the syntactic characteristics in English and Chinese languages and features of restrictive attributive clauses and non-restrictive attributive clauses in these two languages, and with the help of a large number of detailed examples, the paper illustrates four main methods to translate English restrictive attributive clauses and non-restrictive attributive clauses: put the attributive clause before the antecedent, put the attributive clause after the antecedent, fusion and translate the attributive clause into Chinese adverbial clause, and then lists the common mistakes that usually occur in the process of translation. The objectivity of the article is to give people a better understanding of English attributive clauses and provide reference of the translation of English attributive clauses in the future.

    With international communications developing increasingly, English attributive clauses has become one of the most widely-used and complex subordinate clauses, which can be seen in various English files and has aroused a lot of translators’ attention. Because of its complex sentence structure, the translation of English attributive clause is a big challenge for translators. Therefore, how to translate the attributive clause appropriately becomes the translator’s most concerned issue. A good translation of English attributive clause not only helps people have a better understanding of the source language, but also improves the translators’ professional abilities.
    Recent years, as for the translation of English attributive clauses, many scholars become interested in this research area and have discussed the translation of attributive clause from different angles. They mainly deal with the translation methods of restrictive attributive clause and non-restrictive attributive clauses. For example, in The Translation of Attributive Clause written by Liu Jian, he proposed that translation is not to simply find equivalence in the target language or correspond to the surface structure (grammar, syntax), but to seek a deeper structural equivalence, that is to say, equivalence in semantic aspect. And some other scholars discuss the features of restrictive attributive clause and non restrictive attributive clause translation. For example, in Discussion on the Traditional Translation Method of Restrictive Attributive Clause and The Study on the Translation of Non-Restrictive Attributive Clause written by Zhang Meigang, he proposed that there are essential differences between restrictive attributive clause and non-restrictive attributive clause, such as ways of thinking and rhetorical devices and rhetorical functions. In the course of research, translators must separate the two to carry out the study. Until now, scholars are still trying to figure out the suitable translation methods to guide our translation practice.
