    Abstract  English learning has been showing its importance to every student in China, and children start to learn English at a very early age. With the enrichment of the teaching theory and the learning practice, a new method that can be seen as a breakthrough in the English learning of Chinese primary school learners, Phonics has made its name in today’s English teaching and learning. This  thesis is based on an empirical study carried out by the author, providing three tests and a questionnaire to discover the vocabulary acquisition methods and the reading habits of Chinese primary school learners. Here in this thesis, the results of the tests and the questionnaire have been analyzed to explore a practical English vocabulary learning method combined with reading and Phonics. Conclusions have been given about how Phonics helps the primary school English learners by improving their ability of both vocabulary and reading and how this method simplify the English vocabulary learning as well as make the full use of English reading.   This thesis has its inspiration on the application of Phonics to Chinese primary school learners.  Additionally, a tentative framework was given out  to make  enlightenment  to Chinese primary school learners as well as teachers or educators.  41513

    摘    要 英语学习对于中国的每一位学生来说都是很重要的, 中国的学生从很小就开始学习英语。随着教学方法和学习实践变得日益多样,自然拼读法作为中国小学生英语学习的一种突破性方法,在英语教学和英语学习领域受到越来越多的关注。 本文基于作者的实证研究,通过进行三个测试和一个问卷调查来探究中国小学生英语学习中的词汇学习方法和阅读习惯,通过分析研究结果来探求一种可将自然拼读法和阅读相结合的英语词汇学习方法。作者将会探讨自然拼读法是怎样通过提高小学生的英语词汇和阅读能力来帮助他们进行英语词汇学习,以及在自然拼读法的帮助下,利用高效的阅读学习单词的方法如何简化英语词汇学习过程并最终给出结论。 本文启发并探索将自然拼读法应用于中国小学生英语学习的方法。此外,作者给出了一个试探性的英语词汇学习框架,对于中国小学生以及教师都有一定的启示意义。
