    A Study on Teachers’ Oral Feedback in Middle School English Class --Taking Cangqian Middle School as Example

    Abstract Oral feedback plays an important part of teacher talk, which is not only an indispensable tool for teachers to interact with students, but also an essential factor in learner's language acquisition process. In this paper, classroom observation, video recording and questionnaire are adopted to investigate present status of English teachers’ oral feedback in Cangqian Middle School to know about the following three questions: First, what percentage of teachers’ classroom language is oral feedback? Second, what is the percentage of each type of teachers’ oral feedback? Third, what are students’ attitudes towards different types of oral feedback?48134

     初中英语课堂教师口头反馈现状调查——以仓前中学为例

    摘要二语习得理论研究者指出,二语是通过互动谈话习得的。教师反馈话语是教师话语的重要方面,不仅是教师与学生互动的重要工具,同时还是关系到学生语言输入输出的一个重要因素,因此它在提高课堂教学效果和学习者的语言习得过程中起着至关重要的作用。本文采用课堂观察、录像、问卷采访的手段,对仓前中学英语课堂教师口头反馈的现状进行了调查,旨在了解以下三个问题:1.教师的口头反馈占课堂用语的比例有多少? 2.不同类型的教师口头反馈各占多少比例? 3.学生对不同类型的教师口头反馈持什么态度?

    1. Introduction

    1.1. Significance of the Study

    With the development of the society, the progress of mankind and the increase of globalization process, English becomes increasingly important and used in more fields. English is a vital tool to learn scientific and cultural knowledge, to get information from different English materials and to communicate with foreigners. 

    To millions of Chinese students, classroom learning is the major means to English study. In the process of classroom learning, teachers’ response plays an indispensable part, which has an important influence on students’ learning progress. Good feedback can arouse students’ curiosity and thirst for knowledge, help them build up self-confidence, and enlighten their thoughts. Improper feedback may hold students back, make them lose interest in learning and discourage them.
