2. Methodology
2.1 Participants
The participants of this study are 30 English language learners from Hangzhou Normal University ranging between 20-22 years old. They are enrolled in different majors. The learners are selected based on their scores on an English placement test. The details of the test will be given below. After the placement test, the participants are assigned randomly into three groups- two experimental groups and one control group. Each group has 10 language learners. They share the same linguistic and background knowledge. All participants are unaware of the purpose of study as vocabulary acquisition.
