Abstract Wu dialect is the second main dialect in China. Compared with the standard mandarin, they own large differences in aspects of vocabulary and grammar and so on, especially in pronunciation. In this thesis, quantitative and qualitative researches are used through a combination of phonetic test, questionnaire and unstructured interview. English learners in Jiangsu Qidong are chosen as subjects to study the migration of dialect pronunciation in English phonetic acquisition. Materials are acquired by reading the specific text corpus through listening to distinguish samples intended to investigate the performance of transfer among students with native dialect accent. Moreover, interviews and records are applied to understand student’s intrinsic ideas and explore English phonetics learning conditions. Studies have found that learners always unconsciously substitute phoneme with familiar ones and both positive and negative transfer coexist in aspect of English phonetics. What’s more, teachers and students have not realized the importance of this issue. 61420

1. Introduction
Chinese is spoken by the most people in the world however they don't pronounce completely same. China is a country with 56 ethnic groups in which the dialects vary. Although most of the people are able to speak standard Chinese, people still speak it with their own accents. Native dialect is student's first language and exists in certain region with its complete system. To some extent, it largely affects verbal behavior habits and the thinking pattern of men. After entering school, students learn about English phonetics system is also on the basis of dialect. Thus, problems, such as how to make use of students' mother tongue and the migration regularity of voice pronunciation rules and how to make full use of the benefits of positive transfer to reduce the interference of negative transfer are necessary to be delved into. It is impossible that some speakers have accents while others do not. Some may have distinctly or easily recognized types of accent while others do not, but every language -user speaks something with an accent. Accent can be used to describe the aspects of pronunciation which identify where an inpidual speaker is from. In other words, speakers use standard Chinese forms, but sound differently.
