2.1 Studies on website translation

Through a month's efforts in searching, collecting, and reading abundance of scholars and professors' literature, the writer made a detailed analysis of this literature and create the essay which summons up the essence of this literature.

Chen Lijun studied on the strategies of school profile translation from the version of functionalist,proposing four factors in translation process:expected function,addressee,media and purpose with four strategies to improve:omitting,simplification and information supplement(Chen 200).Xu Yue and Yin Xiuli made research on translation errors of Nanjing Youth Olympic Games official website from Skopotheorie.They said that if translation is to

2.2 Survey of ’s English website

Generally speaking, the content of ’s English website is full and accurate, which mainly contains seven modules: home, schools, programmes, admissions, employment, resources and events. The structure is explicit, different readers with different requirement can quickly find the information they need. On the home page, quick links and brief introduction are vividly shown. Ways to  and campus map on the home page bring great convenience for strange visitors. No matter you are foreign scholars, students abroad or entrepreneurs you can easily find useful information.

The content of English version is generally translated from Chinese version. However, information was processed appropriately. Some information was deleted while some are replenished. News with Chinese characteristics and political affairs are not presented on the English website. So does some detailed news that is only related to domestic admission. In terms of structure, what mainly exist on the English homepage are titles and links, which论文网

makes the homepage distinct and concise. By clicking titles and links, visitors can get more relevant information. On the left part of the website structure, there are quick links and site research as well as message about Huai’an city. A number of information is transformed to images and charts, providing a better reading experience. Quick links contain history of , campus scenery, how to get to  and the map of campus. Accordingly, geographic location and surrounding traffic situation is displayed in the brief introduction. When click the link of getting to , Chinese administrative map appears and readers will find where the Huai’an city is. Even though some visitors are totally unfamiliar to Chinese they can get intuitive impression. Brief introduction is where the most different from the Chinese version. Eminent persons in history and landscape are added. Also, it concludes teaching facilities, faculty, titles and prizes and academic projects. Having read the introduction, visitors must have an overall understanding about our school. In the right part of the homepage are news and events presented in brief while readers can keep reading by clicking links. Most of them are international cooperation projects. In the column of employment, there is information for international teachers, providing job vacancy, duties, salary treatment, requirements and so on. In the column of admission, there is information for overseas students, providing tuition, application, accommondation and so on. Above is an overall survey on ’s English website.
