Ⅱ。 The Brief Introduction of SLA
2。1 The Definition and Goals of SLA
The abbreviation of second language acquisition is SLA。 It usually refers to the first language acquisition after any other language’s learning and people study it from the perspective of society, psychology and linguistics (Krashen,76)。 Second language acquisition research as an independent discipline, probably formed in the late 1960s and early 1970s and with a history of 35 years。 It not only describes the learners’ second language characteristics and its development but also describes the common features and inpidual differences of learners who are learning a second language。 At the same time, it analyzes the internal and external factors of second language acquisition。 When compared with other social sciences, second language acquisition is a new field and most of them use native language and pedagogy research or other relevant approaches。 Generally speaking, the research of this field is to explore the nature of second language acquisition and its process。论文网
SLA aims to describe how and why the learners can get second language。 The goal of SLA can be simply and clearly defined as the description and explanation of the second language learning。 It not only describes what L2 learner language looks like but also it explains its development and how the internal and external factors contribute to the mastery of a second language。
2。2The Factors that Can Affect SLA
Any language learning does not come in trickles, it is a long and arduous process。 The different impact of learners in the course of language learning is based on many internal and external factors。
For internal factors, it includes the effect of the learners’ first language。 Real-world knowledge can help learners understand the input of second language and the strategies of social interaction and communication。 Many Chinese students used to use Chinese phonetic notation to read the new words when they are new to the English to better remember the pronunciation of a word (Hu,54)。 The information is very comprehensive in the first language and language is a part of culture and culture plays an important role。 The language reflects characteristics of a nation。 Not only the historical and cultural background are included but also views on life, lifestyle, and way of thinking of a nation are included in language also。 For that we have lived under the influence of Chinese culture for many years and Chinese unique culture had an enormous impact on English acquisition。 The cultural differences between Chinese and Western, foundations of the faith, modes of behavior, ways of thinking, and family patterns are the factors that can affect SLA。
For external factors, researchers think one of the external factors is the social station of this language。 The reason why researchers hold this view is that the success of mastering a second language refers to the strong need of whether this language will be recognized by native people。 The second factor is the effect of native culture。 When learning a second language, if the learner promotes Chinese culture or Chinese culture has a great effect on himself, then the learner will think it is bad for their native culture if he learn English and as a result there is a discount for SLA。
