Abstract The fact that a sea of English movies rushed into Chinese entertainment market in the past thirty years。 It has aroused academic attention and the related researches is getting prosperous。 Of course it’s very natural that a booming movie market will always call for systematical studies。86953
The studies, as mentioned above, seem to focus on language, culture and translation theories。 Yet there are more that are worth noticing。 In this paper, I would like to do some research on the application of literal translation in movies。 Literal translation is a traditional strategy which lays emphasis on word-for-word pattern and is loyal to the characteristics of the original text。 In Downton Abbey’s subtitle translation I have given great importance not only to the form, but also to the sense。When translating, we’d better use the skill of formal equivalence and functional equivalence。 So I first review the studies of movie English。 Then literal translation comes into sight as a typical way of operating between the original text and target text。 Downton Abbey serves a good example for the analysis from formal equivalence and meaning equivalence in order to find out the usability and validity of literal translation in movie English。
The study applies literal translation into the translation areas of movie English, and proposes a new perspective for research on translation studies of movie English。 It also proves the usability and validity of using literal translation in studying movie English。

影视英语中直译策略的应用——以《唐顿庄园》为例
摘 要随着电影艺术的发展和英语电影在中国市场的大量涌现，影视英语的研究也呈现出繁荣的状态。一大批的研究指出，电影文本字幕翻译的发展和翻译研究息息相关。英语电影市场的繁荣也促进了电影文本字幕翻译和翻译研究的发展。
目前的研究主要集中在语言，文化及翻译理论等领域。本文侧重从翻译理论的直译策略进行研究和分析。直译法是传统译法，在电影翻译中，有字字对应，忠实原文的特点。在《唐顿庄园》这部英剧连续剧的翻译中，字幕的特点呈现出既忠实原文又表达出英国特色文化的特点。翻译时，应注意实际意义的表达，所以要运用形式对等和功能对等的技巧来进行翻译。本文首先综述了影视英语的研究现状，指出了从直译策略视角来研究影视英语的意义，接着简要介绍了直译法及本文即将用到的相关理论，然后从形式对等和意义对等两方面分析了《唐顿庄园》的字幕翻译中直译法的应用，探究直译法在影视英语翻译中的可用性和有效性；最后的总结部分，对本文的研究成果，意义和不足进行了分析汇总。
本论文的研究意义在于以下三点：一，将翻译理论中的直译法用于影视英语的翻译研究领域；二，为影视英语的翻译研究提供了新视角；三，验证了直译法应用于影视英语翻译研究的可用性与有效性。
