Abstract  Although there are large numbers of idioms in Chinese and English language system, idioms related with ocean and ship have been largely ignored, and few studies have touched upon this topic。 As China strives to develop the marine power, idioms related with ocean and ship deserves our attention。 87067

The essay introduces the content and the meaning of Chinese and English idioms related with ocean and ship, and illustrates the differences between Chinese and English idioms with certain specific examples。 Through comparative analysis of idioms related with ocean and ship, certain similarities and differences between Chinese and English idioms can be found。 These idioms are in full-correspondence, semi-correspondence or lack of correspondence。 

Through analysis and study on these differences, the causes of such differences are explored from the perspective of Chinese and Western geographical environment, living habits and historical backgrounds。 

This comparative research may have some practical values。 It deepens our understanding of idioms and their cultural motivations。 Furthermore, it may contribute to the development of our country as we strive be a marine power。

英汉船海习语文化差异

摘要尽管英汉语言中存在着大量习语，但关注船海习语研究的学者却不多，且中国正在增强海洋文化实力，所以船海习语值得关注。本文对英汉船海习语的内容与含义进行介绍，对英汉习语对比中存在的对应差异现象进行阐释，通过对比研究法对英汉船海习语差异进行具体举例对比，发现了英汉船海习语中存在着基本对应的关系，部分对应的关系以及文化空缺现象。通过对这些差异现象的分析与研究，追溯导致英汉船海习语差异现象的原因，且分别从中西地理环境，生活习惯，以及历史文化差异三方面来探究导致英汉习语理解差异的具体原因。从而能更清楚地了解中西船海文化差异，提高船海英语习语在文化交流中的应用能力。这些差异既反映出了习语本身的特点，也反映出了不同文化之间更深层次的内涵。在船海习语文化差异对比研究中，我们不仅要了解两种语言文化之间的差异，也要努力寻找导致这种文化差异更加深层次的原因，最后就可以将对比研究的成果应用于实践之中，这是我们研究英汉船海习语文化差异的目的之所在。
