Abstract Chinese vogue words play a very important role in the communication between different language speaking groups and advances the cultural exchange and cultural transmission with the promotion of cross-cultural communication. The paper is mainly discussing on the translations of Chinese vogue words from the cultural perspective and it can be pided to five parts: part one refers to the background, the significance of this research, also including a whole view of the structure of this paper. Part two is talking about the relations between Chinese vogue words and translations from the cultural perspective. Part three is an introduction about Susan Bassnett’s cultural translation theory and Eugene Nida’s theory. Part four is mainly introduce the methods and strategies of Chinese vogue words’ translations. The last part put all the theories and culture information together to make a conclusion in a whole.

On the Translation of Chinese Vogue Words from the Cultural Perspective
I. Introduction
Recent years, “Vogue words” have appeared on newspapers, magazines, television, broadcasting, and Internet frequently. Accordingly, the researches and studies on vogue words develop progressively. Since the beginning of Contest for the Top Ten Vogue Words in China’s Leading Newspapers sponsored by educational circles in 2003, authoritative organizations, such as The National Language Resources Monitoring Center, Beijing Language and Culture University, China News and Technical Workers Federation, Chinese Information Society, jointly published annual rankings of top Chinese vogue words. Together with the reports from major media, vogue words have attracted great attention from all sectors of the society.
Since the Reform and Open Up policy was carried out China has already opened to the outside world for more than 30 years. During this time, China has experienced tremendous changes; not only the economic development but also people’s ideas have entered an unprecedentedly open era. Various new things, new concepts and new ideas have mushroomed. Since the language is the material shell for the thoughts and ideas, it has faithfully recorded each step of the changes of people ideas and thoughts during the past 30 years.
