Abstract
The popularity of the Harry Potter series has translated into substantial financial success for J. K. Rowling, her publishers, and other Harry Potter related license holders. This success has made J. K. Rowling the first and thus far only billionaire author. More than 400 million copies of the books have been sold worldwide and have also given rise to the popular film adaptations produced by Warner Bros., all of which have been highly successful in their own right.
Following the huge success of Harry Potter series, more and more people begin to study them and the children’s literature. Scholars of various countries analyze Harry Potter series through different angles and characters image building is one of the most popular topics.
The paper falls into five parts. The first part serves as an introduction. The second part aims at analyzing the relevant findings about Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The third part analyses the image of the main characters. The fourth part aims at analyzing the interpretation of the character building from the mythologies. The fifth part functions as a conclusion.
