2.1 Current Research Conditions Abroad and at Home

    There are many studies on Red Sorghum, including translation, language, culture and so on. There are also researches on dialects translation, such as analysis of dialect translation in Red Sorghum from the perspective of Hornby’s integrated approach, study on the translation of dialects in Howard Goldblatt’s Red Sorghum and on the translation strategies of dialects in Howard Goldblatt’s Red Sorghum.

2.2 Limitations of Current Studies

Although the current studies on Red Sorghum include translation strategies, dialects and translation theory, there are still some limitations. 

First, there are not enough articles talk about dialect translation in Red Sorghum abroad. Many earlier foreign experts mainly focus on the study of the film—Red Sorghum while some essays talk about the culture-loaded words. Dialect translation from the perspective of skopos theory doesn’t draw much attention.
