Abstract F.Scott Fitzgerald was one of the best writers of the twentieth century. He showed a surprisingly painstaking craftsmanship, especially in his autobiography work The Great Gatsby. Among this work, we can see something about his life.
And this thesis employs the prototype theory to discover the sources of the creation of characters in The Great Gatsby based on Fitzgerald’s life. It tries to probe into Fitzgerald’s life and marriage to discover the influence of his marriage on the creation of the characters in The Great Gatsby and Fitzgerald’s and Zelda’s mutual influence to pave the way for later analysis. Fitzgerald and Zelda had a bitter-sweet relationship. And the marriage between them had dramatic influence on thier life and the creations of their works, no matter the positive aspects or the negative aspects. What’s more, this thesis has deep analysis of the connections and similarities of Fitzgerald’s and Gatsby’s insistence on love, views on materialism and their tragic fates. These three aspects are the typical aspects that can show the reflections of Fitzgerald’s life in The Great Gatsby. 48245

Introduction
F. Scott Fitzgerald was born in 1896 in a St. Paul middle-class family. His father Edward Fitzgerald was a poor businessman. His life should be common but the turning point in his life was when he fell in love with Zelda from a rich family. He proposed to her but failed because she thought that he was just a poor boy. But finally, Zelda agreed to marry him due to his sudden success and fame brought by the publication of This Side of Paradise. 《了不起的盖茨比》中菲茨杰拉德一生的反思:http://www.youerw.com/yingyu/lunwen_50783.html
