Carrie began her job-hunting in Chicago. During this process, she was turned down again and again because of her lack of experience and knowledge. Although finally she found a job at a shoe factory, she was still disappointed. The work was extremely heavy. After work for ten hours a day, she nearly fell down. The salary was too low. 3 The Internal Causes of Carrie’s Degeneration
