Abstract This thesis is based on the studies of William Golding who has been described as the fable writer by the western critics。 His book ---Lord of the Flies is the modern allegory of human nature。 He uses the image of "Lord of the Flies" to interpret the nature of "evil" in human nature, which coincides with Hobbes' point of view。 This paper uses the images of Noah's Ark and Leviathan to illustrate man's salvation in constant struggle with evil reflected in the novel。 Noah's Ark refers to the isolated island, and Leviathan in this article has a double meaning。 The first part of this paper is a brief introduction and evaluation of Golding and his works。 Then the paper talks about the different meanings of Leviathan。 One is from the Bible, which means symbolizing evil, and the second one is from Hobbes' Leviathan which means a powerful national centralization, for the purpose of protecting human life。 According to Hobbes, such a powerful country is necessary for people。 By connecting those two images, Noah's Ark and Leviathan, this paper explores the possibility of reestablishing of civilization and democracy disintegrated society。90875

摘要威廉·⼽戈尔丁在⻄西⽅方被称为“寓⾔言编撰家”，《蝇王》是他揭示⼈人类本性的现代寓⾔言。他借助“蝇王”这⼀一形象诠释⼈人性“恶”的本质，这与霍布斯的观点不不谋⽽而合。本⽂文将借⽤用诺亚⽅方⾈舟和利利维坦两种意象来思考⼈人在与恶持续⽃斗争中是否有⾃自我救赎的 可能性。利利维坦在本⽂文中拥有双重含义，⼀一是《圣经》中的利利维坦，象征邪恶的海海 怪；⼆二是霍布斯书中的利利维坦，这是强⼤大的国家集权。本⽂文通过对这两个意象的解 读来探讨在道德良知分崩离析的社会能否重塑⽂文明与秩序。

1。 Introduction

As we all known, William Golding has been described as the fable writer by the western critics。 His book ---Lord of the Flies is the modern allegory of human nature, thus he won Nobel Prize for Literature。

Lord of the Flies is the first novel published by William Golding。 It is a realistic novel, which is about a war in the future。 A group of young English boys take the plane to escape the nuclear war, but the plane is shot down on an uninhabited island where they must develop their own society。 At first, boys work together to make fire and form levels of political authority。 Later because they fear of the so-called Beast, they are pided into two factions。 In the end, the bloodthirsty of authoritarian side defeat the democratic intellectual camp。 To some extent, the deserted island is a symbol of salvation, survival and hope, as the Noah's Ark in the Bible。 The island in the nuclear war provides a shelter for these boys, however, because of human nature, the boys ruin their lives and encounter the plight where they meet Leviathan源G于J优L尔V论N文M网WwW.youeRw.com 原文+QQ75201`8766
