Ⅱ。Introduction of Feminism
Different critical schools have different interpretation of feminism, but they all share the core: to achieve equal political, economic, cultural, personal, and social rights for women。 Feminism is also known as “feminist” or “women’s liberation movement”。 Feminist movements campaign for women's rights, including the right to vote, to hold public office, to work, to earn equal pay, to own property, to receive education, to enter contracts, to have equal rights within marriage, and to have maternity leave。 Feminists have also worked to promote bodily autonomy and integrity, and to protect women and girls from rape, sexual harassment, and domestic violence。 A feminist advocates or supports the equal rights and status of women so that women can decide their own lives by following their will。 Feminism aims to break the chain of traditional women’s roles given by the patriarchal society。 来自~优尔、论文|网www.youerw.com +QQ752018766-
Originated in 1960s, feminist criticism is the consequence of women movement, which first concentrates on gender discrimination against women from male writers。 Then feminist criticism struggles “for the recognition of women’s cultural roles and achievements”, “social and political rights”, ”cultural freedom and equality”。 (Abrams, 2004: 88) Although feminism changes with time, the core of it keeps unchangeable。 There are three common goals that feminist criticism share。 Firstly, feminism aims to expose the discrimination against women in the patriarchal society。 Secondly, it advocates the discovery and reevaluation of literature by female writers。 Thirdly, it makes a comprehensive study of the influence of backgrounds including society, gender, culture and psychology in literary works and literary criticism。 What’s more, feminism is a general term; it can be subpide into liberal feminism, cultural feminism, socialist feminism, radical feminism, etc。
