I。 Introduction With the expansion of the international movie market, a huge number of movies and dramas flow into China。 Movie English is of vital importance in language learning and entertainment。 It can not only help enrich our daily life but also improve our English learning interests。 However, in order to have a perfect understanding of the movies, it is a precondition that the translation should be very correct in case the imperfect translation would mislead audience and English learners, especially the new learners。 That is why I write the paper to disclose the basic strategy, literal translation, to deliver a deeper comprehension of English movie translation。 文献综述
Literal translation, also known as word-for-word translation, refers to the way to keep original form。 It keeps not only the word form but also the figure of speech, such as the metaphors, figures and cultural characteristics of source languages。 In fact, movie English has been studied by many professors before, but it has seldom been studied from the perspective of literal translation。 Henceforth, the author intends to study the typical movie English -Downton Abbey from the perspective of literal translation。 Through the analysis, the usability and validity of literal translation in movie English will be proved and a better understanding of movie English translation will be reached。

In 2014, Peng Fen studied the theories of applying English in the language teaching。In her point of view, the use of movie English has both its advantages and demerits。 In addition, it will have a direct influence on students’ listening and speaking abilities, and to facilitate their intercultural communicative competence。 On the other hand, it will take up superfluous time and effort of teachers to find the right movie and ask them to do a lot of practice。(Peng Fen,2014:8) Besides, Zhang Qin presented a new angle for subtitle translation of movie English, which is from the perspective of Eco-translatology。 By comparing some successful translation texts, he arrived at the conclusion that the best translation is the one with highest adaptation to the eco-environment。 (Zhang Qin,2012:9)
