Nevertheless, some studies are still focused on those international students who are in China。 An Ran’s (2009) research has adopted the Zung scale to evaluate international students’ cross-cultural adaptation。 Li Ping’s (2008) research mainly focuses on the administration of international students and new countermeasures against their intercultural problems while Zhou Yuan (2009) focuses more on the analysis of their communication problem。 Another excellent researcher Yang Junhong (2009) combines the theories of education, acculturation psychology, sociology, and intercultural communication, to study the international students of different countries in China。 But compare to the studies abroad, researches on international students in China needs more academic attention。
During the junior year at college, when the school started, the author found that there were so many students who spoke Korean every time the author walking on campus, going to the school canteen, or waiting for the bus at the bus stop near our school。 The sudden increased number of South Korean students aroused the interest of the author。 Some of the author’s friends make acquaintance with a few South Korean students。 The author has learned something about their life from them and most of the things are pleasant, but it is unknown that if the South Korean students can truly adapt to the life in China。 Thus, the author wants to choose South Korean students as the subjects of the study to investigate their situation of cross-cultural adaptation。
1。2 Significance of the Study
As the number of international students increases, their life in the host country has drawn more and more attention。 It is known to all that living in a new environment is not easy for the newcomers due to the different environment, cultures, lifestyles, ways of thinking, etc。 One or more factors may influence their adaptation not only in social aspects but also in psychological aspects, and some even have the possibility of failing to live a normal life。 Thus, the ability to adjust themselves and then gradually adapt to the new life is important for their life。
Since there are more and more South Korean students on campus, research on the cross-cultural adaptation of South Korean students in HZNU has more of practical significance。 By conducting the research, we can have a general understanding of the current state of South Korean students’ cross-cultural adaptation and maybe some of their problems encountered in the process and correspondingly, suggestions will be made to the school and also the students so as to make them better adapt to the life in HZNU。From优Y尔E论W文W网wWw.YouERw.com 加QQ75201,8766
