In the rest parts of the table, distinguished readers can understand most types of the genres like academic, technical works with abstract topics。 Within those works, the structure is always complex。 At the superior level, readers are able to deal with genres with a wide range of subjects, both familiar and unfamiliar。 Moreover, equipped with a large amount of vocabulary together with complex, grammatical structures, one can infer the underlying meaning in content by extra-linguistic clues。 For advanced readers, the sub-levels of low, mid, high are generally the same, i。e。
readers are able to understand some complex material, the language is dealing with
advanced and professional words and readers have the awareness for appreciating the properties and literary styles of language。 As for intermediate and novice levels, both of them require more fundamental knowledge for reading and demand less from readers。 The types of texts are description and narration for intermediate readers and the subjects of texts are more focusing on personal experience with simple and short
structures, while none of these aspects is required for novice readers。 Besides, considering the possible difficulty in understanding vertical alignment, the following tasks of learners “cannot do” are presented (See table 4)。
