    摘要产品说明书作为一种实用文体,具有说明指导作用,对于产品本身以及其使用意义重大。它提供产品信息,指导使用和文修,是产品售后最为重要的指南。一份高质量的产品说明书能够达到宣传产品,促进销量的效果。但是,目前说明书的翻译现状不容乐观,给产品使用以及品牌形象带来潜在的不良影响。
      本论文从产品说明书翻译现状出发,概述产品说明书的语言特色和相关翻译理论。本文将主要运用功能对等理论,并结合其他翻译理论,基于相关案例研究电子产品说明书的翻译,提出说明书的翻译原则以及翻译方法。本文浅析的目的在于为产品说明书翻译提供参考和借鉴,促进产品说明书翻译质量的提高。24452

    Title    On the E-C Translation of Manuals from the perspective of Functional Equivalence                          
    —— Based on Case Study of iPhone5 User Guide                                              
    Abstract
    Manual, as an illustrative form of writing, has practical significance for the product itself and its use. It is a vital compass after sale by offering product information and guiding use and maintenance. A high-quality manual can advertise products and promote sales. However, the actuality of manual translation is far from satisfaction, which may bring potential problems to product use and brand image.
    This thesis first summarizes linguistic features and relevant translation theories of manuals based on the current translation situation of manuals. Through case study, it presents translation principles and approaches to by applying functional equivalence and combining other translation theories. The aim of the thesis is to provide reference for manual translation research and improve the quality of manual translation.

    1  Introduction
    With the surge of international trade driven by globalization and China’s opening up policy, more and more foreign products have entered into China’s markets. Improved living standards prompt people to have more living needs as well as higher purchasing power. In order to cater for the increasingly persified needs, various products are designed, produced and marketed.

    Products have a combination of tangible and intangible attributes. Besides the tangible product object, the manual is also regarded as a kind of after-sale service whose quality directly affects use safety and purchasing desire. Manufacturers have to offer high quality products and services so as to survive in the sales competition intensified by fast updating and upgrading technologies. A manual is an indispensable link between manufacturers and users. By introducing product information and use direction, it ensures comfortable user experiences which directly demonstrates high product quality and indirectly establishes a dependable brand image. As a result, it guides and promotes sales by advertising products.
