1。1 Research Background
Senior high school English syllabus emphasizes that high school English teaching should focus on the cultivation of reading comprehension ability。 There are various reasons why reading comprehension ability is gaining increasing attention。 First, the aim of learning a second language is to communicate with others and to achieve mutual promotion。 But if one can only express himself instead of understanding what others mean then this kind of communication is a failure。 Language consists of oral language and written language。 In today’s Information Age, people prefer to use the written form of language through social media like Twitter, Instagram, Moments, etc。 The ability to catch others’ meaning quickly and accurately is becoming a symbol of whether one can suit to the Information Age。
Generally, there are two ways in cultivating students’ reading comprehension ability。 One is through class reading activity, another is through extracurricular class reading。 But under the push of gaokao, students are lack of extracurricular class reading time。 And due to the limited teaching time on each unit, English class mainly focus on teaching grammar and analyzing sentence structure。 So students only learn a lot of grammar rules instead of learning a variety of reading methods, not to mention the reading comprehension ability。

Interdisciplinary knowledge supplement can make up the defects of the insufficient extracurricular class and in-class reading time。 Interdisciplinary knowledge supplement means during the teaching procedure, teachers consciously, orderly, organically combine the text with other subjects, penetrate the conceptually-relevant interdisciplinary knowledge。 This can not only make students to recall or construct the background of the passage, but can also arise students’ desires to read。
