    Abstract With the promulgation and implementation of the English Curricular Standards in the Phrase of Compulsory Education (2011 Edition), the English textbook employed by Jiangsu province has been fully undated by the spring of 2015, which makes primary school English vocabulary teaching face a new challenge in the matter of how to simultaneously ensure its effectiveness, practicability and interestingness. In order to better fulfill the educational philosophy proposed by the New Curriculum Standards and promote the proper interpretation and innovative utilization of the new textbooks, it is of great necessity to survey current vocabulary teaching in primary schools there. 26094
    Therefore, the author surveys Lishui No.3 Primary School, a school at a moderate level located in Nanjing (the capital of Jiangsu province). Through the questionnaires, interviews, in-class observations and recordings cooperated with the English teachers and students from the middle and high grades, the author attempts to find some redeeming features and problems existing in the vocabulary teaching and provide some suggestions to improve future vocabulary teaching in primary schools.
    Based on the analysis of the data collected, the author concludes three main problems existing in current English vocabulary teaching and then proposes some corresponding solutions.

     摘 要随着《义务教育英语课程标准(2011年版)》的颁布与实施,江苏省所用英语教材也逐步于2015年春季完成全面更新,这就对如何同时保证小学英语词汇教学的有效性、实用性与趣性提出了新的挑战。为了更好地践行新课程标准所提出的教育理念,促进对新教材的合理解释与创新利用,有必要对江苏省内小学英语词汇教学的现状进行调查。
    因此,作者将位于江苏省省会城市南京的处于中等水平的溧水区第三小学作为调查研究对象,通过对该小学英语教师与中高年级的学生进行问卷调查、访谈对话、课堂观察、录音分析等调查方法,以期发现目前小学英语词汇教学中的可取之处以及存在的主要问题与不足,并对以后的小学词汇教学有所启示。
    根据对所得数据的分析,作者总结了现今小学英语词汇教学中所存在的三大问题,并针对这些问题一一提出了相应的教学建议。
