    Abstract
    Rhetoric is one of the three ancient basic academies of Greece. With the development of society, the pace of the development in language and literature has been also quickened; therefore, rhetoric has become even more enriched. In addition to “speech art”, it also includes the structure, style, and rhythm of the works. In modern English, rhetoric is “Composition skill” and even “Writing Skill”. Many rhetoric devices are frequently used, and then it has become a fixed form, which is called Rhetoric.
    Rhetoric plays a unique role in language expression. It’s as important as grammar and logic. To understand and master English rhetoric can help students improve their English proficiency and the way of English thinking, and develop their language skills, ultimately allowing their Language expression to achieve a good effect.
    Rhetoric in this paper is composed of three parts: At first, browsing the development of rhetoric in West and China. Then combining the literature classification, this paper will analyze the possible reasons for the difference between Chinese and western rhetoric. Finally, through the classification of commonly used rhetoric, the article would expound the translation method. In English and Chinese, some rhetoric devices are commonly used like Personification, Simile, Metaphor, Parallelism, Pun, Rhyme, Consonance, Onomatopoeia and so on. In translation, it is suggested to use the literal translation method as far as possible in order to keep uniformity in rhetorical structure between the target and original languages. On the other hand, because of differences in living environment, customs, ways of thinking and aesthetics of the two cultures, some rhetoric, used in English, is rarely used in Chinese. In such a case, free translation method is proposed to precisely pass on the thought and spirit of the original text. However, for the rhetoric which cannot be translated, it is generally modified in word structure and the relationships among words to highlight the characteristics of language and culture.

    摘要修辞术是古希腊的三大基础学术之一。随着社会的发展,语言和文学的发展步伐也不断加快,因此,修辞的含义也就更丰富了。除了“讲演艺术”以外,它还包括了作品的结构、风格、韵律等等。在现代英语里,修辞的一般含义是“编写技巧”,甚至有人干脆说成是“写作技巧”。许多修辞使用极为频繁,并形成了固定的形式,因而被称为修辞格。
    修辞对语言的表达效果具有独特的作用。所以,其重要性不亚于语法和逻辑。对于学习语言的学生来说理解和掌握英语修辞格有助于提高提高他们的英语水平、英语思文方式、培养他们的英语技能,使他们的英语表达达到最好的效果。
    本文中的修辞是由三部分组成:首先是浏览中西修辞格的发展。然后结合文献,分析中西修辞的异同的原因。最后通过的常用修辞格的归纳,阐述英汉修辞格的翻译方法。汉语和英语相类似常用的修辞有:拟人,明喻,隐喻,排比,双关,押韵,谐音和拟声修辞。在翻译中,我们应该尽可能地使用直译法,使文字和修辞结构与原文保持一致。另一方面,由于两个民族生活环境,风俗习惯,和审美的不同,对于某些英语中常用但是汉语中很少用的修辞格,这时种情况下,就需要采取意译的办法,准确表达原文的思想和精神;然而,对于无法翻译的修辞格时,需要调整词的结构以及词和词之间的关系,突出语言和文化的特色。
