摘 要小说《儿子与情人》的作者劳伦斯被认为是20世纪英国文坛最伟大的人物之一。本文主要分析劳伦斯的作品《儿子与情人》中的女主角莫瑞尔太太的命运。本文的主要目的是探讨莫瑞尔太太的不幸的命运，她是一位生活在19世纪工业化英国的有着坚强意志的女性，但是嫁了一个不成功的丈夫。毫无疑问，莫瑞尔太太的命运是一个悲剧。本文运用了历史分析法和篇章分析法对莫瑞尔太太悲惨命运进行分析探讨。论文最终认为，莫瑞尔太太对儿子保罗异常的爱以及保罗对她的恋母情节最终导致了她的死亡。希望本篇论文能为当代人的爱情观和婚姻观提供借鉴。40504

Abstract
Sons and Lovers, which was written by D. H Lawrence, was considered as one of the greatest figures in 20th century in English literature. This paper mainly analyzes the heroine of Lawrence's work Sons and Lovers, Mrs. Morel. The chief purpose of this paper is to investigate the unfortunate fate of Mrs. Morel, a good strong-willed woman who lived in the industrialized England in the 19th century and married an unsuccessful husband. There's no doubt that her fate is a tragedy. History analysis method and text analysis method will be used in this thesis to discuss Mrs. Morel’s tragic fate. It reveals that Mrs. Morel’s abnormal love toward Paul and Paul’s Oedipus complex finally led to her death. Hopefully this paper will put forward some recommendations for people about pursuing normal love.

I. Introduction
Sons and lovers is one of Lawrence's most important novels. This novel is the author's semi-autobiographical novel. As the heroine of Sons and Lovers, Mrs. Morel is somehow Lawrence's own mother, and the protagonist Paul is somehow Lawrence himself.
David Herbert Lawrence (1885 – 1930) was an important and controversial English writer of the 20th century. He was very interested in human physical touch, and this kind of interest in his works earned him many enemies in the literary circle at that time. But anyway, his literary achievement is outstanding.
As an English novelist, storywriter, critic, poet and painter, Lawrence is now considered as one of the greatest figures in 20th-century English literature. He is perhaps best known for his novels Sons and Lovers, The Rainbow, Women in Love and Lady Chatterley's Lover. Within these, Lawrence explores the possibilities for life and living within an Industrial setting. In particular he is concerned with the nature of relationships in such settings. Though often classed as a realist, Lawrence's using of his characters can be better understood with reference to his philosophy. His use of sexual activity, though shocking at the time, has its roots in this highly personal way of thinking and being. He is the master of stream of consciousness. His novels are full of scenes of sensuous beauty, with a lot of naturalistic details. The words in his works often achieve the effect of a fusion of feelings with the natural setting. In addition to novels, Lawrence also wrote many short stories, poetries, commentaries and famous letters. But all those are not as good as his novels.
