The Analysis of the Women's Survival Tragedy in Great Expectations from the Perspective of Feminism
Introduction
Charles Dickens is one of the greatest critical realistic writers in the Victorian Age. He intends to expose and criticize all the poverty, injustice, hypocrisy and corruptness around him in his works and sets a full map and a large-scale criticism of the 19th-century England, particularly London. His works have a lasting and profound influence on the culture of Britain and attract a huge number of readers. A combination of optimism about people and realism about society are obvious in his works. His representative works in the early period include Oliver Twist (1837-1838), David Copperfield (1849-1850) and so on. Charles Dickens is a master of story-teller. His language could be compared with Shakespeare's language in a way and his humor and wit seem inexhaustible.
