Case Study of the Effectiveness of English Classroom Teaching Activities Abstract Since the reform of English curriculum, developing students’ communicative ability has become one of the most important goals of English teaching. Different from traditional class, many teachers will use different teaching activities to draw students’ attention and make the class more active. However, are those intriguing activities really effective? What is an effective teaching activity?71724

The author did an investigation in Xue Jun Primary School. Questionnaire, interview and classroom observation were used to collect authentic data. Based on the result of questionnaire and interview, the author talked about the current situation of English teaching activities in primary school. And through analyzing some common activities, the author found that there are many problems in activity design and teachers’ implement. It is very hard to find a balance between form and content. Some commonly used activities also have the problem of high cost with low efficiency.

On the foundation of the findings, the author also put forward some suggestions to make English teaching activities more effective.

英语课堂教学活动有效性的个案研究

摘  要根据2011新英语课程标准,培养学生的语言交际能力成为了英语教学的重要目标。在这一目标的指导下,越来越多的老师摒弃了传统的“老师讲,学生听”的单项教学模式,转而采用更丰富多彩的课堂教学活动来吸引学生的注意力,活跃课堂气氛,以便帮助学生更有效地掌握知识。然而这些看似热闹的活动真的有效吗?什么样的教学活动才能被称之为有效?

笔者对学军小学三年级英语课堂教学活动的实施情况进行了调查。通过问卷调查,访谈及课堂观察,笔者分析了英语教学活动设计与实施的现状。并通过对常见教学活动进行案例分析,发现了现有课堂教学活动中存在的问题,分析了问题产生的原因,并依据课堂教学活动设计的原则及教学中出现的实际情况,对课堂教学活动的设计和实施提出了建议。
