These all attribute to the different living culture environment, which lead us understand words or sentences in different ways. On the other hand, something which we think is of great fun, maybe not so attractive to foreigners, either. These different understandings of languages will affect our appreciation toward foreign affairs. So, It’s necessary for us to study the different expression features in Chinese and English. Gulliver’s Travels ,the representative work of Swift, was introduced into China as a translated work as early as the late Qing dynasty. Since then, this novel has been retranslated again and again. However, Wang Weidong’s version is children’s favorite. It involves the horizon of expectation. Gulliver’s Travels is a crucial concept of reception theory. According to it, the author should take reader’s horizon of expectation determine their attitudes and assessment towards a literary work. These viewpoints provide a new angle for translation studies. According to Jia Dejiang,(2004) “thinking patterns, thought characteristics and thinking styles are the philosophical mechanism of language production. Language actually attaches closely to the thought that is the profound mechanism.” Thinking patterns are the deep-rooted mechanism in the formulation and development of language, which in turn promotes the specialties in certain conceptual patterns.
