1 Introduction
1。1 Research Background
Studies on gender language began very early。 Jespersen is one of the linguists who firstly took notice of gender language differences。 His book Language (1922) describes the differences of language between men and women with a whole chapter, which attracted the attention of linguists on this topic。 In the 1960s, researchers became more interested in language and gender due to feminist movement。 Since Lakoff's Language and Woman's Place came out in 1975, a widely study of language and gender has been carried out 。 Previous studies of gender differences in language have focused on the voice and intonation of men and women, as well as vocabulary, syntactic structure and language style。 So far, social-linguists have found that women speak faster and more fluid than men。 At the same time, female's language is more expressive than that of male's。 Some studies show that males tend to speak with strong expletives such shit, hell and damn in our daily life while females would like to use emotional words such as envy, admiration, charming, beautiful, cute and pretty。 So men speak more directly and expletively than women。 Men try to avoid using emotional words that are thought to be used by women。 What's more, women speak modal verb more frequently than men while males often use declarative sentence more frequently than females。 In the aspect of language style, the language style of men is powerful style while women's style is powerless。 The study on gender language is confined to language that we hear。
Nowadays, we can see a hot word in our life which is multimodality。 Multimodality is now very popular in teaching, technology and discourse analysis。 Multi-modal refers to visual modality, auditory modality, tactile modality, olfaction modality and gustatory modality。 Language analysis cannot be confined to what we hear。 Language can also be seen and felt, such as image, symbol and rhythm。 Such kind of language can also convey information。 So we find it is single to study language only from one aspect。 It is necessary for us to further study gender language in multi-modal view to make it more comprehensive。 论文网 多模态视角下广告语言的性别身份构建(2):http://www.youerw.com/yingyu/lunwen_144300.html
