With the reform of English study in senior high school, learning English seems to have more requirements。 In spite of the rigid pattern to get high grades by simply reciting vocabularies, understanding the grammars and endless practicing and testing, the new tendency also requires the students to use English flexibly and understand English in a deeper level。 But most of the students are used to studying English in the old ways and even not ready for the changes, which would make little efforts for improving their English performance but also hinder their future English learning。 So I think they need to take the awareness of learning English and take timely and effective action against the weakness in their English learning。 During the preliminary investigation we also find that the students show less interest in learning English especially the male students。 Compared with the female students, a lot of male students do not have right attitudes towards English learning, some of them seldom spend more than 20 minutes in English study subtract class time each day。 And many students say that they just learn English by finishing the homework and the recitation tasks given by the teachers but never have their personal schedule for English learning。 And those who even don’t have any goal for their English grades also account for a large percentage。 The students are not clear about how much can they achieve and they are not willing to set goals for themselves。 They don’t have enough consciousness about the importance of learning English , so without action。
What’s more, Zhe Jiang province has implemented the reform of college entrance which put forward higher request in cultivating students to be comprehensive learners, so students make efforts to complete the study of various subjects every day。 Students’ autonomous learning competence can be an important indicator to predict their academic achievements, in which the self-control is necessary。 The students with high self-control capacity are more likely to keep the balance between subjects and get satisfied results, but for those who are lacking in self-control capacity, they are less likely to make learning plans with emphasis according to their own learning situations, weak subjects can’t be improved without attention and effective measures, so they are tend to get lower school achievements than those in higher self-control。
As one main part of education, the high school students need to adjust their thoughts and actions consciously。 High school students are in the critical period of the development of self-consciousness, in which they are moving from immature to mature, from external control to self-control。 So high school self-education is feasible。 But as they are not mature enough, moderate outside control is necessary。 So it is of great value to explore a suitable self-control strategy。
Much research work about self-control is done by the experts and scholars abroad, with a wide-range and deep level。 About academic achievement, grades, interpersonal success, health, wealth, and public safety, meditation and self-control, the relationship between self-control and inner strength, temptation and self-control ect, the research about the relationship between students’ self-control and their academic achievement is mature 。 But in China, experts and scholars do not pay much attention to this topic。 Only some scholars who are interested in it, the study is not as mature as it in abroad。 Based on the present research and findings, most of them indicate to the point that higher self-control provides with better outcomes, and appear obviously in studying。 As self-control capacity is associated with lots of elements, my principal aim is to test out several relative aspects and design correspondent strategies suitable for English learning ,help high school students to develop their self-control and achieve higher English performance。 And at the same time, we can test which strategy is most influencial for developing students’ self-control and improve their English performance mostly combining with their learning situations。论文网 自控力提升策略对高中学生英语成绩的作用(3):http://www.youerw.com/yingyu/lunwen_163434.html
