Abstract The Martin Eden is considered as the semi-autobiography of Jack London. The writer describes a tragedy story on a fighter. The content of the article is a huge impact on readers, and has strong shock of the tragedy. Based on social class analysis and Maslow’s humanism theory this thesis analyzes Martin Eden’s tragedy spirit, finds that their tragic fate and excavates its tragedy consciousness. This article is mainly from the social background, character and destiny to analyze the inevitability of Martin Eden’s death and shows that social factors, personality factors and fate are the main reason. At the same time through the analysis of this thesis it also helps readers to better grasp the tragedy of Martin and understand the tragic consciousness of the author.

I. Introduction
Martin Eden is the one of Jack London’s masterpieces, which reveals the real life at the beginning of the twentieth century. Jack London, a well-known modern realistic novelist and short story writer in American, wrote a unique chapter in American literary history with his remarkable life and achievements. Martin Eden is considered as the semi-autobiography of Jack London, which is not only the story of past memorizing, but also the mystical prediction of his future. The novel discloses the social and cultural environment in America at that time.
For this novel, there are many people has studied it from various aspects. For example, Wang Ping has analyzed the protagonist Martin Eden’s tragedy life and the causes. Some people analyze the novel from the initial story point; some people study the redemption of soul of the protagonist and so forth. All of those have deepened our understanding of the protagonist. This article mainly analyzes the causes of Martin Eden’s tragedy: his death is inevitable because of the social factors, personality factors and fate factors. The paper mainly analyzes the tragedy course of protagonist. At the beginning of the body, the text analysis will be used to state the story and novel background. The second part is about the writer and his work Martin Eden. The third part is about Martin Eden’s feature of tragedy and use social class analysis and Maslow’s humanism theory to analyze the hero’s suicide. At last, analyze the inevitability of Martin Eden’s death and shows that social factors, personality factors and fate are the main reason.
