1. Introduction
Produced by Rob Minkoff, the famous director, The Forbidden Kingdom is a film about an American boy Jason’s adventurous dream which is based on the Chinese classic literature Pilgrimage to the West. Accidentally, Jason got a mysterious stick from a pawnshop in the Chinatown and went through the gate of no gate to come to the ancient China. Meanwhile, he had a task: to return this golden stick to its true owner, the monkey king, and to kill the devil, the Jade War Lord. In the process of fulfilling his task, Jason met a lot of people from the world of martial arts and some ancient legends, including Drunken Master Lu Yan, mysterious and strong Silent Monk, chivalrous Golden Sparrow and cruel White Witch. Under different ages and spaces, these people met together and displayed Kung Fu like Drunken fist, Praying mantis and Dragon style were shown in turn. From the total westernized production and distribution in the film, sincere respects to former Hong Kong style of martial arts instead of lower level of vulgar film can be seen. In a word, The Forbidden Kingdom is a fantastic dream about a young boy who was very crazy about Kung Fu and in his dream, he found courage which he had lost in real life. Communication and integration of Chinese and American cultures are clarified in this film. What’s more, with the trend of global film pluralism, there is no doubt that the movie is a successful adaptation.
2. Literature Review
According to the Baidu encyclopedia, cultural integration refers to a process that different characteristics of culture are combined through the contact, communication, absorption and penetration to merge into a whole part. Nowadays, movie is not only a cultural product but also a carrier of culture. The rich cultural connotations are embedded in the works of art so that the audience can accept the morality, ethics and values of cultural content of the films easily. The cultural infiltration and integration can also be achieved successfully. It can be concluded that movies spread culture latently and potentially.源]自{优尔^*论\文}网·www.youerw.com/ 电影《功夫之王》浅析中西方文化融合:http://www.youerw.com/yingyu/lunwen_65263.html
